Recognizing the scope, size and complexity of our developments, Polocorp continues to grow and we are excited to make some announcements about changes and additions to our team.

Matthew Warzecha

Director of Development and Planning

Polocorp is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Warzecha, MCIP, RPP as Director of Development and Planning. Matthew is currently Project Manager/Planner with Polocorp, having joined the company in early 2020. Matthew brings with him diverse project experience, gained over 10 years of practice in both the public and private sectors. Through his career he has had the opportunity to work in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Suriname on a variety of projects that range in type and scale. His diverse background affords a strong understanding of planning principles and policy implementation through land development. With each project, Matthew’s focus is on contributing to the development of strong communities through high-quality and sustainable design.

In his role, Matthew will oversee all planning applications and land development projects within Polocorp and iPlus, as well as Polocorp’s talented team of professionals.

Matthew holds a BA in Geography and Urban Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master’s of Planning degree from Dalhousie University. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and Ontario Professional Planners Institute.

Joining Matthew is a dynamic team with a diverse skillset.

Amy Furtado

Sales and Marketing Manager

Amy Furtado joins Polocorp as Sales and Marketing Manager. Amy is an expert in creating and managing communications strategies to build relationships for organizations and individuals. She brings over 15 years in both public and private sector marketing and brand management, including roles in the local real estate and new construction industries. Amy has experience in digital strategy, creative content development, business development, sales, market research, community engagement and project management. As a result, she brings with her a great understanding of building and supporting communities within our Region.

Outside of her role and family life, Amy volunteers and supports many youth community organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region, The Children’s Safety Village and The Pregnancy Resource Centre.

Ruth Tregenza

Designer and Planner

Ruth Tregenza joined Polocorp as a Designer and Planner in August 2020. She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Urban Planning program and achieved a specialization in Urban Design. Ruth has been consulting in the planning industry since 2015 and has always maintained a dynamic role to utilize both her planning and design skills. She enjoys supporting all aspects of development projects from co-ordination and research to the preparation of plans and reports. Her previous work experiences include consulting for rural communities in southern Ontario and more recently for the Kitchener-Waterloo community and surrounding area.

Ruth is currently a member of the Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians. She is also working towards full membership and accreditation within the Canadian Institute of Planners and Ontario Professional Planners Institute. She is currently a pre-candidate member of these institutions.

Jonathan Hann

Jonathan Hann

Urban Designer

Jonathan Hann joins Polocorp as an Urban Designer, with over 5 years of multi-disciplinary consulting experience. Jonathan strives to create places that are human scaled, sustainable, and focused on active transportation. For his past professional and academic work, Jonathan has been recognized with awards in Urban Design, GIS, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture.

Jonathan recently completed a Master of Science in Landscape Architecture at the University of Copenhagen, where his thesis, “Mobility for All: The Relationship Between the 15-Minute City and Mobility Justice” examined mobility in the context of travel for daily needs, and the potential for the 15-Minute City concept to reduce structural inequality between the city centre and suburbs.

In addition to his love of cities and cycling, Jonathan is an accomplished musician, having performed with bands, orchestras, and theatre companies across Canada, the US, England, and Denmark.

Leyla Mains

Junior Planner

Leyla Mains joins Polocorp as a Junior Planner. Leyla has a background in planning and administration with experience in both the public and private sectors. Leyla holds a BA in Geography and Geomatics from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Waterloo. She has long been intrigued by the processes and procedures that go into shaping cities and is excited to be a part of this while taking on her new role at Polocorp.
